TLDR
A survey of the known solutions of Einstein's field equations for vacuum, Einstein-Maxwell, pure radiation and perfect fluid sources can be found in this paper, where the solutions are ordered by their symmetry group, their algebraic structure (Petrov type) or other invariant properties such as special subspaces or tensor fields and embedding properties.
Abstract
A paperback edition of a classic text, this book gives a unique survey of the known solutions of Einstein's field equations for vacuum, Einstein-Maxwell, pure radiation and perfect fluid sources. It introduces the foundations of differential geometry and Riemannian geometry and the methods used to characterize, find or construct solutions. The solutions are then considered, ordered by their symmetry group, their algebraic structure (Petrov type) or other invariant properties such as special subspaces or tensor fields and embedding properties. Includes all the developments in the field since the first edition and contains six completely new chapters, covering topics including generation methods and their application, colliding waves, classification of metrics by invariants and treatments of homothetic motions. This book is an important resource for graduates and researchers in relativity, theoretical physics, astrophysics and mathematics. It can also be used as an introductory text on some mathematical aspects of general relativity.

Local and gauge invariant observables in gravity

TL;DR: In this article, a generalized notion of local observables is proposed, which retains the most important properties that follow from the standard definition of locality, yet is flexible enough to admit a large class of diffeomorphism invariant observables in general relativity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gödel-type metrics in various dimensions

TL;DR: Godel-type metrics are introduced and used in producing charged dust solutions in various dimensions, and the key ingredient is a (D − 1)-dimensional Riemannian geometry which is then employed in constructing solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell field equations with a dust distribution in D dimensions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Perfect-fluid cylinders and walls - sources for the Levi-Civita spacetime

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of matching a perfect-fluid source to the Levi-Civita metric tensor with respect to a perfect fluid source is reduced to quadratures once a generating function equal to the product of two of the metric components is chosen.

Amplitudes from Coulomb to Kerr-Taub-NUT

TL;DR: In this paper, the Coulomb charge via the dyon to the Kerr-Taub-NUT spacetime was identified, and the amplitudes corresponding to each of these solutions, working to all orders in spin, but to leading perturbative order.

Black hole shadow of a rotating polytropic black hole by the Newman–Janis algorithm without complexification

TL;DR: In this article, a spherically symmetric polytropic black hole was obtained by following the Newman-Janis algorithm without complexification, and the shape of its shadow was discussed.
