TLDR
Inelastic and charge exchange scattering of light projectiles by a nucleus is considered in this paper, where it is shown that this contribution changes only slightly the angular distribution, but may increase the cross-section strength up to a factor 4, and other processes similar to the transfer of two particles should be included in order to estimate the magnitude of all the exchange effects.

Experimental Methods for Studying Nuclear Density Distributions

TL;DR: It is a primary and appealing gross property of atomic nuclei that, unlike many other quantum systems, they possess a central region of generally uniform density and a reasonably sharp nuclear surface as discussed by the authors.

Ca-48(he-3,t)sc-48 reaction at 66 and 70 mev reaction-mechanism and gamow-teller strength

TL;DR: In this article, the 48Ca(3He, t)48Sc reaction has been studied at E3He = 66 MeV and 70 MeV, and the strength distribution is consistent with a shell-model calculation.

The effective 3he-nucleon force in a microscopic DWBA approach to the (3He, t) charge-exchange reaction

TL;DR: In this article, the (3 He, t) reaction has been studied on the targets 12 C, 16 O, 24 Mg, 26 Mg and 28 Si, 32 S, 42 Ca, 48 Ca, 54 Fe, 58 Ni and 90 Zr at incident energies 66-90 MeV.

A new interaction for heavy-ion scattering

TL;DR: In this paper, a new nucleon-nucleon interaction gives the real part of heavy-ion optical potential tails correctly when used in a folding model, and exchange effects are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Single nucleon knockout exchange contribution to nucleus-nucleus potentials

TL;DR: Calculations show the single nucleon knockout exchange contributions to nucleus-nucleus scattering potentials are comparable to the direct contribution and can be included in the double folding model by means of a simple approximation.

Structure of the He-4 nucleus from elastic electron scattering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the cross section for elastic electron scattering from the nucleus of a nuclear harmonic-oscillator (HOS) nucleus at values from 0.5 to 20.0 and showed that the surface of the HOS charge distribution is less diffuse than implied by the nuclear harmonic oscillator model.

Finite-Nucleus G Matrix in the Microscopic Description of Inelastic Proton Scattering

TL;DR: In this paper, the Kallio-Kolltveit interaction was used as the effective interaction in a distorted-wave approximation analysis of a few transitions in the reactions at energies ranging from 25 to 55 MeV, and a comparison was made with results obtained using Yukawa interactions parametrized on the basis of low-energy nucleon-nucleon and nuclear data.

A formalism for direct inelastic scattering and charge exchange

TL;DR: In this article, a general formulation of the direct inelastic scattering problem is presented, which is applicable to collisions between a nuclear projectile having mass number A ≦ 4 and any target nucleus for which a shell model description can be given.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nuclear Structure of Ca 4 0 , 4 2 , 4 4 , 4 8 from Inelastic Alpha-Particle Scattering

TL;DR: In this article, the energy levels, spin and parity assignments, and transition strengths were compared with previous experiments and with theoretical results, and it was shown experimentally that the shape of the differential cross section implies the spins and parity of the excited level, and the magnitude indicates the transition strength.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some studies of the effective interaction for the inelastic scattering of nucleons

TL;DR: The microscopic interpretation of the inelastic scattering of nucleons by nuclei is reviewed in this paper, where data for reactions at medium energies on nuclei with simple shell-model configurations are analyzed in terms of a simple effective nucleon-nucleon interaction.
