Abstract
XML is the lingua franca of the wireless Web. Its strength is in its generality: XML can describe virtually any kind of structured data. Once described, the data can be presented in other formats. Moreover, XML is already being used for a host of server-server communication applications, which make it possible for different data servers to easily exchange information. The trend toward a common format for representing data will doubtlessly present new opportunities for both Web and wireless Web clients.

A scalable framework for representation and exchange of network measurements

TL;DR: This work presents an extensible framework for the storage and exchange of performance measurements, capable of handling a wide variety of measurements while delivering performance comparable to that of less flexible, ad-hoc solutions.

Design of SMIL browser functionality in mobile terminals

TL;DR: A design model of SMIL browser functionality for mobile terminals whose resources are limited is proposed and SMIL Component, which is based on attachable software architecture to a pre-installed generic web browser is introduced.

The impact of research on middleware technology

TL;DR: Middleware is commonly defined as a software layer between applications and operating systems that provides application programmers with higher level of abstractions, such as remote procedure invocation, reliable message exchange or transactions, which considerably simplify distributed system construction.

Expressive, yet tractable XML keys

TL;DR: This work investigates XML keys which uniquely identify XML elements based on a very general notion of value-equality: isomorphic subtrees with the identity on data values, and establishes a sound and complete set of inference rules for this expressive fragment of XML keys.
