TLDR
In this paper, a model was proposed for prediction of fatigue life based on fracture mechanics and the finite element method, which illustrates that the spot welds deteriorate the bond quality so that life is reduced compared to a bond without spot welding.

Experimental analysis and comparison of the strength of simple and hybrid structural joints

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate to what extent, or under which conditions, it is beneficial to use hybrid weld-, rivet- or clinch-bonded joints in comparison with simple adhesive, spot-welded, riveted or clinched joints.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization study of hybrid spot-welded/bonded single-lap joints

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated hybrid spot-welded/bonded single-lap joints in comparison with the purely spot welded and bonded equivalents, and showed that the hybrid adhesive bonding with spotwelding is a choice to be considered, adding a few advantages like superior static strength and stiffness, higher peeling and fatigue strength and easier fabrication.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of humidity on porosity, microstructure, and fatigue strength of A7N01S-T5 aluminum alloy welded joints in high-speed trains

TL;DR: In this article, the microstructures and grain sizes in the weld zone and heat-affected zone (HAZ) were similar under different humidity conditions; however, porosity distribution varied significantly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adhesive selection for hybrid spot-welded/bonded single-lap joints: Experimentation and numerical analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the adhesive selection for single-lap adhesive joints by the bonding and hybrid (bonded and welded) techniques with different overlap lengths (L O ) was discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Static and fatigue performance of weld bonded dual phase steel sheets

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of weld-bonded joints has been evaluated by tensile shear and fatigue tests on dual-phase steel sheets of 1·0 mm.
