Finger image identification method for personal verification

Abstract
The finger image identification method described uses the image of the entire finger, especially the finger joint line patterns, instead of the fingerprint. This method makes it possible to verify a person's identity in less than 0.1 s. Since the feature is extracted by integrating a finger image, it is not sensitive to noise. Because the algorithm is simple, the software/hardware system can be realized at a low cost. Experiments based on the finger features of 508 people resulted in an error rate of 9.6% type-1 errors and 0.1% type-2 errors. >
