In vitro biotransformation of flavonoids by rat liver microsomes

TL;DR: Sixteen naturally occurring flavonoids were investigated as substrates for cytochrome P450 in uninduced and Aroclor 1254-induced rat liver microsomes and results indicate that demethylation only occurs in the B-ring when the methoxy group is positioned at C4', and not at the C3'-position.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition and antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the essential oil and extracts of Stachys inflata Benth from Iran

TL;DR: In this paper, the composition and antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of essential oil and methanol extract polar and nonpolar subfraction of Stachys inflata were determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potent anti-inflammatory activities of hydroalcoholic extract from aerial parts of Stachys inflata on rats

TL;DR: The anti-inflammatory properties of total methanol extract isolated from aerial parts of Stachys inflata were investigated in two well-characterised inflammatory models in rats, carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema and formalin-induced paw licking.

1 H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of flavonoids and their glycosides in hexadeuterodimethylsulfoxide

K.R. Markham, +1 more
TL;DR: The use of CCl4-soluble trimethyl-silyl derivatives for lH nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been well documented (Mabry et al. 1970, Markham and Mabry, 1975; Markham, 1982), but in recent years the use of these derivatives has largely superseded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extraction and identification of natural antioxidant from the seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree variety of Malawi

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixture of chloroform/methanol (50∶50) was used to extract the sunflower oil from the dried seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree (variety of Malawi) and the induction period measurements demonstrated a great resistance to oxidative rancidity.

Chemistry of toxic range plants. Highly oxygenated flavonol methyl ethers from Gutierrezia microcephala

TL;DR: Agarwal et al. as mentioned in this paper isolated 20 flavonol methyl ethers displaying nine different oxygenation patterns in Gutierrezia microcephala, including 11 new flavonols.

^ C-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectral Studies on Polysubstituted Flavonoids. I. 13C-NMR Spectra of Flavones

TL;DR: In this paper, the 13C-NMR spectra of 61 flavone derivatives were measured in dimethyl sulfoxide and the parameters (α and β values) and correction factor (ο value) necessary for calculating their carbon shifts were deduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Three flavonoid glycosides containing acetylated allose from stachys recta

TL;DR: Three flavone glycosides, obtained from Stachys recta, were identified as 4′- O -methylisoscutellarein, isoscutelarein and 3′-hydroxy-4′-O - methylisosCutellare in, isolated for the first time.

Acetylated allose-containing flavonoid glucosides from Stachys anisochila

TL;DR: In this paper, the previously reported isoscutellarein 7-O-[6″'-O-acetyl-β- D -allopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D -glucopyranside] (1) and 3′-hydroxy-4′-O-methylisoscutelle-6″-methyl-isos cutelle-7-O[6″]-6″ -acetyl β-D-glucophyranoid glycoside [1] (2) were used to
