TLDR
The molecule (O, N donor ligand) is thought to adsorb through the carboxyl oxygen atom with the benzene ring in a 'perpendicular side on orientation' with respect to the silver surface.About:

Studies on surface plasmon resonance and photoluminescence of silver nanoparticles
TL;DR: The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and photoemission properties of Ag nanoparticles are found to be sensitive tocitrate concentration and a blue shift in SPR and an enhancement in photoluminescence intensity are observed with increase in citrate concentration.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering on colloidal nanostructures
Ricardo Aroca,Ramon A. Alvarez-Puebla,Nicholas P. W. Pieczonka,S. Sanchez-Cortez,J.V. Garcia-Ramos +4 more
TL;DR: Surface-enhanced Raman scattering combines extremely high sensitivity, due to enhanced Raman cross-sections comparable or even better than fluorescence, with the observation of vibrational spectra of adsorbed species, providing one of the most incisive analytical methods for chemical and biochemical detection and analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of gold nanoparticles.
TL;DR: Intense photoluminescence (PL) is observed in nanoparticles prepared by fast reduction with borohydride in presence of PEG and KCl using UV-vis spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
FT-IR, FT-Raman and SERS spectra of pyridine-3-sulfonic acid.
TL;DR: FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of pyridine-3-sulfonic acid are recorded and analysed and a likely 'perpendicular orientation' of the molecule on the silver surface is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies on optical absorption and photoluminescence of thioglycerol-stabilized CdS quantum dots.
TL;DR: UV and PL spectral features of the CdS/Au hybrid nanoparticles obtained by a physical mixing of Cd S and Au nanoclusters in various volume ratios is discussed and an additional low energy band approximately 650 nm is observed in the UV visible spectrum of the hybrid nanoparticle.

Surface-enhanced spectroscopy
TL;DR: The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect was first discovered by Fleischmann, Van Duyne, Creighton, and Creighton as discussed by the authors, who showed that molecules adsorbed on specially prepared silver surfaces produce a Raman spectrum that is at times a millionfold more intense than expected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption and surface-enhanced Raman of dyes on silver and gold sols
P. C. Lee,Dan Meisel +1 more
TL;DR: Several negatively charged dyes were investigated for their possible adsorption on the surface of colloidal particles and those dyes that were found to adsorb on the particles were then checked for surface enhancement of Raman scattering.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) model of adsorbates on metal surfaces, where the long-range enhancement by resonances of the macroscopic laser and Stokes field is separated quantitatively from the metal electron-mediated resonance Raman effect.
