TLDR
In this article, the authors deal with the dynamic ASPECTS of the sub-subject: MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS of systems SUBJECTED to INDEPENDENT VIBRATIONS by means of MATHEATICAL MODELS.Abstract:
PART 1 DEALS WITH THE DYNAMIC ASPECTS OF THE SUBJECT: MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF SYSTEMS SUBJECTED TO INDEPENDENT VIBRATIONS BY MEANS OF MATHEMATICAL MODELS. THE ANALYTICAL SYSTEMS USED ARE NON-LINEAR SYSTEMS, HYDRODYNAMICS AND NUMERICAL METHODS. PART 2 EXAMINES SEISMIC MOVEMENTS, THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF STRUCTURES AND THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF THE SEISMIC DESIGN OF STRUCTURES.read more

The empirical mode decomposition and the Hilbert spectrum for nonlinear and non-stationary time series analysis
Norden E. Huang,Zheng Shen,Steven R. Long,Man-Li C. Wu,Hsing H. Shih,Quanan Zheng,Nai-Chyuan Yen,C. C. Tung,Henry H. Liu +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new method for analysing nonlinear and nonstationary data has been developed, which is the key part of the method is the empirical mode decomposition method with which any complicated data set can be decoded.

Liquid Sloshing Dynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed review of liquid sloshing dynamics in rigid containers, including linear forced and non-linear interaction under external and parametric excitations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calculation of nonlinear ground response in earthquakes
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for calculating the seismic response of a system of horizontal soil layers is presented, which takes account of the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of soils and has considerable flexibility for incorporating laboratory results on the dynamic behaviour of soils.

A critical review on idealization and modeling for interaction among soil–foundation–structure system
Sekhar Chandra Dutta,Rana Roy +1 more
TL;DR: The present study makes an attempt to gather the possible alternative models available in the literature for the soil–foundation–structure interaction system with computational validity, efficiency and accuracy needed in improved design of important structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Response-based damage assessment of structures
TL;DR: In this paper, a static pushover analysis is proposed to estimate the expected damage to structures when subjected to earthquakes of different intensities, and results of the analysis of ductile and non-ductile reinforced concrete buildings show that the proposed procedure gives a simple, consistent and rational damage indicator for structures.

The correlation of peak ground acceleration amplitude with seismic intensity and other physical parameters
John R. Murphy,L. J. O'Brien +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of acceleration/intensity correlations has been carried out using a new, worldwide data sample compiled for this study from data measured from nearly 1500 strong-motion accelerograms.
