Abstract
A fibre optic delivery system has for the first time been used in laser welding of metals. The optical fibre is flexible and has a length of 140 cm. It can transmit pulsed energies from a Nd-YAG laser in excess of 25 J with an efficiency of 85%. Potential applications in industry and in dentistry are discussed.

Long Pulse Laser Micro Welding of Commercially Pure Titanium Thin Sheets

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental campaign was designed and planned by means of the Response Surface Method (RSM) in order to assess the effect of the main process parameters on the weld bead penetration depth, width and general morphology.

Energy transmission capacity of optical fibers determined by a temperature rise

TL;DR: The temperature distribution in a step-index multimode optical fiber is calculated and it is shown that, after constant energy begins to flow in the core by a cw, the steady-state temperature depends strongly on the environment in which the fiber is placed.

Laser Welding in Automatic Assembly Line for Color-CRT Electron Gun

TL;DR: YAG laser welding technology has been applied to an automatic assembly line for newly designed color-CRT electron gun in this paper, where optical fiber delivery systems are used to determine laser damage threshold in the fiber material versus high laser power density.

Hand-Held Laser Welding of AISI301LN for components with aesthetic requirements: Toward the integration of machine and human intelligence

TL;DR: In this paper , an open laboratory HHLW system was designed for process development purposes. And the system could be combined with a linear axis or manually with the aid of a newly developed roller device designed to provide constant speed and inclination.

Lasers in industry

TL;DR: Lasers can now be regarded as practical and economic tools with unique properties which have been utilized effectively in several applications in industry as discussed by the authors. But their use in thermal processes and measurements is limited.

Laser welding of prostheses--an initial report.

TL;DR: In this paper, the anterior section of the mouth was reconstructed by laser welding fixed and precision removable partial prostheses, and the accuracy of the assembled restoration reflected the initial impression, since all welding is done on the master cast.

Filamentary Tracks Formed in Transparent Optical Glass by Laser Beam Self-Focusing. II. Theoretical Analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, an electrostriction mechanism for laser-beam self-focusing and track formation in transparent optical glass is analyzed theoretically, and a trapping threshold is derived for three pulse shapes, covering the steady state, transitional, and transient regimes of pulse duration and beam size.
