Hierarchical Representation of Waveforms

TLDR
This correspondence proposes an alternative approach, derived from concepts of fuzzy connectedness, to the hierarchical representation of waveforms based on peak dominance relations, and discusses the possibility of extending this approach to the description of curves and of images.
Abstract
Ehrich and Foith have proposed an approach to the hierarchical representation of waveforms based on peak dominance relations. This correspondence proposes an alternative approach, derived from concepts of fuzzy connectedness. It also discusses the possibility of extending this approach to the description of curves and of images.

Automatic recognition of ISAR ship images

TL;DR: The nature of ISAR imaging of ships, and single-frame and multiple-frame techniques for segmentation, feature extraction, and classification are described and results are shown which illustrate a capability for automatic recognition of ISar ship imagery.

Extraction de caractéristiques, segmentation d'image et morphologie mathématique

TL;DR: A new class of morphological transformations, the extinction func- tions, which associate with each image extremum a characteristic of the region it marks, which allow to produce efficient hierarchical interactive segmentation algorithms.

The Converging Squares Algorithm: An Efficient Method for Locating Peaks in Multidimensions

TL;DR: The converging squares algorithm is a method for locating peaks in sampled data of two dimensions or higher that is robust with respect to noise and data type, and computationally efficient.

Peak Detection Using Difference Operators

TL;DR: This correspondence describes an approach to detecting peaks and valleys by applying simple difference operators at each point to neighborhoods having a wide range of sizes, and making simple comparisons of the outputs of these operators for various sizes and positions.

Understanding Shape: Angles and Sides

TL;DR: Methods of detecting the angles and sides of a simple closed curve are developed that use approximations to the curve that have varying degrees of coarseness, and construct a hierarchy of angles and side that describes the curve at any desired level of detail.
