Holographic method giving stress levels and visualization of defects in thick cylinders

TLDR
In this paper, the holographic determination of stress levels in a defect-free tube and in the sound section of a tube containing defects was performed using thin cylinder theory, and the tube surface area adversely affected by the defects was visualized.
Abstract
The holographic determination of stress-levels in a defect-free tube and in the sound section of a tube containing defects. A comparison with stress values using thick cylinder theory is given, and the tube surface area adversely affected by the defects is visualized, Size of defects detectable are also given.

Method for measuring optical strain and apparatus therefor

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and an apparatus for optical strain measurement are disclosed, prior to deformation or loading of the object to be tested, the latter is provided with a thin transparent film which adheres well to the object and has a thickness between 3 and 20 μm.

Laser holographic and speckle photography methods for defect detection and strain evaluation in pressure vessels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors give holographic methods, both conventional and new, for the detection of defects in tubes, and they also give strain values in front of a crack tip in a 75 mm thick pressure vessel by speckle photography.

Holographic NDT On Pipes: Predicted Fringe Patterns And Experimental Results

TL;DR: In this paper, the expected interferograms have been simulated with a mathematical model which embodies elastic deformation as well as rigid body motion, and experimental verification of the model shows that it may be used for software compensation of rigid body motions, and for measurement of bending, torsion, pressure, and thermal expansion.

Applications of holography and speckle photography to the measurement of displacement and strain

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a combination of live and double-exposure techniques to investigate the bending moment along an axial surface generator of a pipe joint, and obtained the surface strain using speckle photography.
