Knowledge-based image retrieval with spatial and temporal constructs (Invited paper)

TL;DR: A knowledge-based approach to retrieve medical images by feature and content with spatial and temporal constructs is developed, which can be generated automatically by clustering algorithms based on feature values in the databases and hence are scalable to large collections of image features.

Mean-curvature watersheds: A simple method for segmentation of a digital elevation model into terrain units

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method for terrain segmentation using mean-curvature watersheds is described, which produces objects that contain a cycle of MEC values, such that the topographic variation within each object may be large, but due to the cyclic nature of the MEC variation a geometric simplicity is ensured.

Combined edge detection using wavelet transform and signal registration

TL;DR: A novel edge detection algorithm, using Haar wavelet transform and signal registration in order to close edge discontinuities and calculate a confidence index for contour linkages, which measures the level of confidence in the linkage of two adjacent points in the contour structure.

Similarity measurement using polygon curve representation and Fourier descriptors for shape-based vertebral image retrieval

TL;DR: A polygon curve evolution technique was developed for smoothing polygon curves and reducing the number of data points while preserving the significant pathology of the shape.
