Income inequality income composition and macroeconomic trends: Israel 1979-93.

Lea Achdut
- 01 Jan 1996 -
TL;DR: In this paper, two types of analysis are employed: decomposition of the Gini coefficient by income source and population subgroup, and time-series regression on macroeconomic variables, and they find that the slight increase in inequality over the period is a result of opposing forces, and that the major difference between the inflation (1979-84 and stabilization (1985-93) periods is in the inequality-reducing effect of direct taxes, increasing in the first period while declining in the second.

The measurement of income inequality under inflation: Correction formulae for three inequality measures

TL;DR: This article examined the effect of inflation on three commonly used measures of income inequality: the variance of the logarithm of incomes and Theil's two entropy measures, and showed that inflation always exaggerates the actual degree of inequality if the sample is drawn from the entire population at each point in time.
