On Whitehead modules

TL;DR: It was shown in this paper that for any reasonable ring R, for every R -module K there is a non-projective module M such that Ext R 1 (M, K ) = 0; in particular, there are Whitehead R -modules which are not projective.
Journal ArticleDOI

New and old facts about entropy in uniform spaces and topological groups

TL;DR: The notion of topological entropy of a continuous self-map of a compact space was introduced by Adler, Konheim and McAndrew in 1965 as mentioned in this paper and has been extended to uniform spaces and topological groups by many authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

On complete resolutions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors develop simple criteria for constructing and using complete resolutions for modules over group algebras and strongly group graded rings. But these criteria are not applicable to strongly group groups.

On what I do not understand (and have something to say): Part I

TL;DR: A non-standard paper, containing some problems in set theory I have in various degrees been interested in this article, contains a discussion on what I have to say; sometimes, of what makes them interesting to me, sometimes the problems are presented with a discussion of how I have tried to solve them, and sometimes with failed tries, anecdote and opinion.

Cotilting and a Hierarchy of Almost Cotorsion Groups

Rüdiger Göbel, +1 more
- 01 Feb 2000 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the structure of all cotilting and partial cotiling groups, and of all torsion-free classes of groups under V = L. They also introduce almost cotorsion groups, which have a complex structure.
