Infrared and Raman spectra of potassium hydrogen phthalate

TLDR
In this article, the origin of the multiple OH(D) bands in the region 1900-3000 cm−1 is discussed, and the polarised spectra of single crystals of the title compound and its O-deuterated analog are assigned.

Understanding enzymic catalysis: the importance of short, strong hydrogen bonds.

TL;DR: This proposal that short, strong hydrogen bonds exist in enzyme active sites and that they are important in explaining enzymic rate enhancements is defended and evidence for likely changes of hydrogen bond strengths during enzyme catalysis is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman spectra of the NaH2PO4 crystal

TL;DR: In this paper, the room-temperature and lowtemperature (10 K) Raman spectra of a single crystal NaH2PO4 were obtained for various polarizations and it was shown that there is no phase transition in this crystal at least down to 10 K.
Journal ArticleDOI

Beta-cyclodextrin decorated nanostructured SERS substrates facilitate selective detection of endocrine disruptor chemicals.

TL;DR: It is shown that EDC model compounds, including 3-amino-2-naphthoic acid (NAPH), potassium hydrogen phthalate (PHTH) and the EDC β-estradiol (ESTR), were captured by the β-CD decorated surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Laser-Raman Spectroscopic Study of the Adhesive Interface Between 4-MET/MMA-TBB Resin and Hydroxyapatite or Bovine Enamel

TL;DR: It was concluded that formation of the salt on the surface of the hydroxyapatite (HAP) with the carboxyl group, and polymerization of the 4-MET in the methacryl group near the surface were mutually exclusive reactions for the same 4- MET molecule.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crystal and molecular structure and infrared spectra of tetraethylammonium hydrogen phthalate and tetrabutylammonium hydrogen phthalate

TL;DR: The structure of tetrapropylammonium hydrogen phthalates was determined with X-rays as discussed by the authors, and it was concluded that tetraplatinum hydrogen polyphthalate forms intramolecular hydrogen bonds.

Infrared spectra of strongly hydrogen-bonded systems

TL;DR: In the early spectroscopic work on hydrogen bonding, the attention of the investigators was mainly directed to the shifts of the stretching bands as mentioned in this paper, which was later extended to the intensity increase and broadening.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isotope Effect on the Hydrogen-Bond Length

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of deuterium substitution on the length of the hydrogen bond was investigated using the Stepanov approximation, and the origin of the effect and its relation to observations was discussed.

The “OH stretching” band of acid salts of carboxylic acids and the symmetry of the hydrogen bond

TL;DR: The infrared spectra of a series of acid salts of carboxylic acids and their deutero analogues were examined with respect to the mass and temperature effects on the vaOHO band as discussed by the authors.
