Indirect effects of COVID-19 on the environment.

TL;DR: The research shows that there is a significant association between contingency measures and improvement in air quality, clean beaches and environmental noise reduction, and decreasing GHG concentrations during a short period is not a sustainable way to clean up the environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental effects of COVID-19 pandemic and potential strategies of sustainability.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the positive and negative environmental impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, by reviewing the available scientific literatures and suggest that the pandemic situation significantly improves air quality in different cities across the world, reduces GHGs emission, lessens water pollution and noise, and reduces the pressure on the tourist destinations, which may assist with the restoration of the ecological system.

Reducing GHG emissions from ships in port areas

TL;DR: In this article, a case study of the ship traffic to the Port of Gothenburg is performed, and three scenarios, "1. Alternative fuel", "2. Ship design", and "3. Operation", are analyzed.

The Self Diagnosis Method. A new methodology to assess environmental management in sea ports.

TL;DR: The Self Diagnosis Method, developed by two research teams and about sixty sea ports, allows the comparison of the current environmental situation with that corresponding to previous years and the assessment of the opportunities for improvement.

The environmental impacts of pollutants generated by routine shipping operations on ports

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose an economic model and calibrating it to the Port of Rotterdam to assess the environmental impact costs generated by routine shipping operations on ports and provide a decent framework for further research in sustainable shipping and port management for future generations.
