Tribological behavior of ceramic materials (Si3N4, SiC and Al2O3) in aqueous medium

TL;DR: In this paper, the friction and wear behavior of self-mated Si3N4, SiC and Al2O3 in water were investigated by varying the test conditions of applied load and sliding speed.

Effects of microstructures on the abrasive wear behaviour of spheroidal cast iron

Quanshun Luo, +2 more
- 01 Apr 1995 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of graphite phase on the wear performance of spheroidal cast irons was investigated under both two-body (pin-on-disc) and three-body impact conditions.

Understanding the fretting wear of Ti3SiC2

TL;DR: In this article, the tribological properties of Ti 3SiC2 and steel couple were analyzed under different fretting conditions. And the authors found that the triboxidation is accompanied by the formation of TiO 2, SiO2 and Fe2O3.

The effect of test parameters on alumina wear under low contact stress

F Xiong, +1 more
- 01 Dec 1999 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a flat pin-on-disc wear test method was used to evaluate alumina wear behavior, and two main wear regimes were identified, mild and severe wear respectively, with a transition region in between.

Is Glass Infiltration Beneficial to Improve Fretting Wear Properties for Alumina

TL;DR: In this article, the tribological properties of the glass-infiltrated (GI) alumina with a major aim to understand scientifically the influence of glass infiltration on the underlying mechanisms of material removal (when fretted against steel).

Principles of abrasive wear

M.M. Khruschov
- 01 Apr 1974 -
TL;DR: The mechanisms of abrasive wear are reviewed and laboratory test methods assessed in this article, where the results of tests on technically pure metals, heat treated steels, cold work hardened materials, hard wear resistant materials and minerals against fixed abrasive grains are discussed.
