TLDR
It is believed that this procedure could be an alternative to abdominal radical hysterectomy for selected women, especially those who have stage Ib1 cervical cancer, and acceptable in accordance with the standards of gynecologic oncology.
Abstract
Study Objective . To demonstrate the feasibility and evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy for early, invasive cervical cancer. Design . Prospective study (Canadian Task Force classification II-2). Setting . University-affiliated hospital. Patients Eighteen women (age range 29–70 yrs) with early, invasive cervical cancer. Intervention Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy. Measurements and Main Results Diagnoses were squamous cell carcinoma in 15 patients and adenocarcinoma of the cervix in 3; these were graded microcarcinoma in 6 and stage lb ( Conclusion In our experience, laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy is acceptable in accordance with the standards of gynecologic oncology. Despite the longer operating time than traditional abdominal radical hysterectomy, all patients recovered as quickly as they would after laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy. We believe that this procedure could be an alternative to abdominal radical hysterectomy for selected women, especially those who have stage lb1 cervical cancer.

Total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy using the argon-beam coagulator: pilot data and comparison to laparotomy

TL;DR: Estimated blood loss and postoperative hospitalization appear shorter than historical controls, at the cost of longer operating time, and oncologic outcome requires longer follow-up.

A comparison of laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy and laparotomy in the treatment of Ib-IIa cervical cancer.

TL;DR: LRH+LPL is a safe and effective alternative to conventional abdominal surgery for stage Ib-IIa cervical cancer, and should be used if the surgeon is sufficiently trained, and its clinical value should be confirmed by multicenter randomized clinic trials.

Total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy: the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center experience.

TL;DR: Total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy can be performed safely with minimal blood loss and postoperative morbidity, and patients undergoing this procedure may be discharged after an overnight stay in the hospital.

Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for invasive cervical cancer: 8-year experience of a pilot study.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that radical hysterectomy can be performed by laparoscopy in stage IB1 or less advanced node negative cervical cancer patients without compromising survival.

Laparoscopic-assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy (LARVH): prospective evaluation of 200 patients with cervical cancer.

TL;DR: Patients with tumor <4 cm, negative lymph nodes, and the absence of the combination of angio- and lymphovascular space involvement can be identified by laparoscopic staging and are ideal candidates for LARVH.

Laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy in the staging of early carcinoma of the cervix.

TL;DR: It is possible to remove the first-line regional lymph nodes of the cervix for pathologic examination and the risk of missing a positive node is low, because "skip" metastases are quite rare in early cervical carcinoma.

The role of laparoscopic lymphadenectomy in the management of cervical carcinoma

TL;DR: Laparoscopic lymphadenectomy was performed on 18 patients with invasive carcinoma of the cervix prior to definitive radiation therapy and/or radical hysterectomy and a single microscopically positive parametrial lymph node was found on permanent section in 1 patient with radical hySterectomies.
