Francesco Schillaci,G.A.P. Cirrone,Giacomo Cuttone,Francesco Romano,Valentina Scuderi,L. Allegra,A. Amato,L. Andó,Michele Costa,G. Gallo,R. Leanza,Mario Maggiore,G. Milluzzo,Giada Petringa,J. Pipek,A. D. Russo,G. Korn,Daniele Margarone,M.J. Leray,O. Tasset-Maye,S. Antoine,P. Jehanno +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, a three years contract has been signed between the INFN-LNS (IT) and Eli-Beamlines-IoP (CZ) to provide the design and the realization of a complete transport beam-line, named ELIMED, dedicated to the transport, diagnostics and dosimetry of laser-driven ion beams.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced ion acceleration in the relativistic transparent regime due to the laser rising edge
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the impacts of the laser contrast on ion acceleration when an ultra-intense laser pulse irradiates on a sub-micron foil target, and they show that the BOA mechanism has obvious advantages over the radiation pressure acceleration (RPA).

Radiation induced acceleration of ions
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a model and simulation results for such a radiation induced ion acceleration and study the scalings of the maximal attainable and average ion energies with respect to the laser and target parameters.

High-Quality Laser-Accelerated Ion Beams from Structured Targets
M. Matys,Jan Psikal,Katsunobu Nishihara,Ondrej Klimo,M. Jirka,Petr Valenta,Sergei V. Bulanov +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , it is shown that the radiation pressure acceleration mechanism dominates over the target normal sheath acceleration for assumed laser target parameters when the laser intensity is high enough, which leads to a collimated quasi-monoenergetic ion beam with lower emittance, divergence, and energy spread compared to a single and double-layer target with planar interface.

Current State and Development Prospects of Relativistic Optics
E. Yu. Echkina,I. N. Inovenkov +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review two promising directions in the development of relativistic optics, present simulation results for the interaction of super-high-power laser radiation with cluster plasma, and propose a particle acceleration method for laser physics research.

Feasibility of using laser ion accelerators in proton therapy
TL;DR: In the scheme proposed, a beam of fast ions accelerated by a laser pulse can be integrated in the installations intended for proton therapy, ensuring that the irradiation of the surrounding healthy tissues and organs is minimal.
