More detailed information on reproduction, mortality and population counts are presented to give an outline of the population dynamics in this species.
Abstract
A general description of the life history of Mountain hares is given, base on a three year field study of about 200 wild hares on a moor near Morven, Aberdeenshire, and laboratory examination of over 360 dead specimens from surrounding areas. Growth and body size, behaviour, range and movements, food and reingestion are described. More detailed information on reproduction, mortality and population counts are presented to give an outline of the population dynamics in this species.

Interspecific allometry of population density in mammals and other animals: the independence of body mass and population energy‐use

TL;DR: It is suggested that rough independence of body mass and the energy-use of local populations is a widespread rule of animal ecology and community structure.

Morphological Aspects and the Ecological and Mechanical Consequences of Fat Deposition in Wild Vertebrates

TL;DR: It is now universally accepted that much (but not all) body fat serves as an energy reserve, but its other "functions" and the consequences of its presence on the anatomy and physiology of the whole animal have not been the subject of critical review since the work of Shattock and Auerbach.

Population Ecology of the Sugar Glider, Petaurus breviceps, in a System of Fragmented Habitats

G. C. Suckling
- 01 Jan 1984 -
TL;DR: The population ecology of the sugar glider, Petaurus breviceps, was examined during a 31-month capture-mark-recapture study in a 20-ha system of remnant native vegetation in farmland, which found differences in density were most readily explained by differences in abundance of black wattles, Acacia mearnsii.

The Reproduction of the Wild Rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus (L.).

TL;DR: The wild rabbit differs from the tame rabbit chiefly in (a) the sharp delimitation of the breeding season, (b) the intensity of breeding during the season,(c) the maintenance of pregnancy during lactation normally, and (d) the extreme rarity of true pseudopregnancy.

Prenatal mortality in mammals.

TL;DR: A critical examination of the methods of estimating the amount, and of analysing the distribution, of prenatal mortality in mammals, in the light of researches on wild rabbits is provided.
