TLDR
In this article, the authors discuss and analyze different national strategies for solving the problem of "surplus production" in Denmark, where the electricity production exceeds the demand during certain periods and creates a problem of surplus production.About:

A review of computer tools for analysing the integration of renewable energy into various energy systems
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the different computer tools that can be used to analyse the integration of renewable energy is presented, and the results in this paper provide the information necessary to identify a suitable energy tool for analysing the integration into various energy-systems under different objectives.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renewable energy strategies for sustainable development
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the problems and perspectives of converting present energy systems into a 100% renewable energy system based on the case of Denmark, and the conclusion is that such development is possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy system analysis of 100% renewable energy systems-The case of Denmark in years 2030 and 2050
Henrik Lund,Brian Vad Mathiesen +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the methodology and results of the overall energy system analysis of a 100% renewable energy system, which includes hour by hour computer simulations leading to the design of flexible energy systems with the ability to balance the electricity supply and demand.

Integration of renewable energy into the transport and electricity sectors through V2G
Henrik Lund,Willett Kempton +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, two national energy systems are modelled, one for Denmark, including combined heat and power (CHP) and the other a similarly sized country without CHP (the latter being more typical of other industrialized countries).
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-scale integration of wind power into different energy systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the ability of different energy systems and regulation strategies to integrate wind power is expressed by the following three factors: the degree of electricity excess production caused by fluctuations in wind and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) heat demands, the ability to utilise wind power to reduce CO2 emission in the system, and the benefit from exchange of electricity on the market.

Renewable energy and the need for local energy markets
TL;DR: In Denmark, a technological change towards cleaner energy technologies has been developed and implemented since around 1975 as discussed by the authors, where wind power supplies an increasing share (in 2004 18.6%) of electricity consumption along with combined heat and power plants, which supply around 50% of consumption.
Journal ArticleDOI
Choice awareness: The development of technological and institutional choice in the public debate of Danish energy planning
TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that public participation has been an important factor in the ultimate decision-making process, and that conflictual debates should be seen as necessary conditions for further improvements in the energy initiatives and programmes.
