TLDR
In this paper, three classes of models of renewable resource economics are discussed: profit-maximizing models, competitive equilibrium models, and cooperative equilibrium models; a variety of complexities, both biological and economic, are also discussed, including irreversibility problems, disaggregated biological models, delay effects, and stochastic models.
Abstract
Three classes of models of renewable resource economics are discussed in this paper: profit-maximizing models, competitive equilibrium models, and cooperative equilibrium models. A variety of complexities, both biological and economic, are also discussed, including: irreversibility problems, disaggregated biological models, delay effects, and stochastic models. Questions deserving further research are raised.

Bifurcation analysis of modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with Michaelis–Menten type prey harvesting

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified Leslie-Gower prey-predator model with nonlinear harvesting in prey is discussed and a detailed mathematical analysis of the model is given to describe some significant results that may arise from the interaction of biological resources.
Journal ArticleDOI

A model for fishery resource with reserve area

TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model to study the dynamics of a fishery resource system in an aquatic environment that consists of two zones: a free fishing zone and a reserve zone where fishing is strictly prohibited is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Merging Economics and Epidemiology to Improve the Prediction and Management of Infectious Disease

TL;DR: It is shown how the approach explores the determinants of decisions about the number and type of contacts made by individuals, using insights and methods from economics, has the potential both to improve predictions of the course of infectious disease, and to support development of novel approaches to infectious disease management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Construction and first applications of a global cost of fishing database

TL;DR: The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea developed a new global database of fishing cost as mentioned in this paper, which covers variable and fixed costs of maritime countries, representing ∼98% of global landings in 2005.

Resilience and Stability of Ecological Systems

TL;DR: The traditional view of natural systems, therefore, might well be less a meaningful reality than a perceptual convenience.

The Tragedy of the Commons

TL;DR: The tragedy of the commons as a food basket is averted by private property, or something formally like it as mentioned in this paper, which is why the commons, if justifiable at all, is justifiable only under conditions of low-population density.

Non-cooperative games

John F. Nash
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the set of equilibrium points of a two-person zero-sum game can be defined as a set of all pairs of opposing "good" strategies.

Mathematical Theory of Optimal Processes

TL;DR: The fourth and final volume in this comprehensive set presents the maximum principle as a wide ranging solution to nonclassical, variational problems as discussed by the authors, which can be applied in a variety of situations, including linear equations with variable coefficients.
