Journal ArticleDOI
Porphyrins in complex with DNA: Modes of interaction and oxidation reactions
TL;DR: Examples of the oxidation reactions carried out by porphyrins tightly bound to DNA, including double-stranded DNA or G-quadruplex DNA hosts, highlight how DNA participates in the reaction or contributes to a better understanding of the chemistry ofporphyrin models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, dark toxicity and induction of in vitro DNA photodamage by a tetra(4-nido-carboranylphenyl)porphyrin.
TL;DR: It is concluded that this type of nido-carboranylporphyrin is a promising sensitizer for both the boron neutron capture therapy and the photodynamic therapy of tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single-stranded nucleic acids as templates for porphyrin assembly formation
TL;DR: In this paper, the interactions of trans-bis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)diphenylporphine (t-H2Pagg) with these two single-stranded nucleic acid polymers are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA–porphyrin interactions probed by induced CD spectroscopy
Reiko Kuroda,Hajime Tanaka +1 more
TL;DR: Detailed analysis by induced CD spectroscopy has revealed that the manganese porphyrin, Mn(tmpyp), binds the major groove of AT or GC sequences in DNA, as well as the reported minor groove of At sequences, with a preference that depends on the porphirin to DNA base-pair molar ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water-Soluble Porphyrins with Four Sugar Molecules
TL;DR: Porphyrins substituted with four sugar moieties are prepared, which are freely soluble in water and show the efficient photosensitizing activity as discussed by the authors, and they are shown to have similar properties to those of the sugar-coated ones.
