Journal ArticleDOI

Brief interventions for alcohol problems: a meta‐analytic review of controlled investigations in treatment‐seeking and non‐treatment‐seeking populations

TL;DR: This review summarizes additional positive evidence for brief interventions compared to control conditions typically delivered by health-care professionals to non-treatment-seeking samples and calculated the effect sizes for multiple drinking-related outcomes at multiple follow-up points.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sexual transmission of HIV according to viral load and antiretroviral therapy: systematic review and meta-analysis

TL;DR: Studies of heterosexual discordant couples observed no transmission in patients treated with ART and with viral load below 400 copies/ml, but data were compatible with one transmission per 79 person-years, which is needed to better define the risk of HIV transmission from patients on ART.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decreases in community viral load are accompanied by reductions in new HIV infections in San Francisco.

TL;DR: Because CVL is temporally upstream of new HIV infections, jurisdictions should consider adding CVL to routine HIV surveillance to track the epidemic, allocate resources, and to evaluate the effectiveness of HIV prevention and treatment efforts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiology, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Control of Trichinellosis

TL;DR: Evidence that the disease can be monitored and to some extent controlled with a rigorous reporting and testing system in place should be motivation to expand appropriate programs worldwide.
