TLDR
In this article, serious problems arise with the usual classification and proposed mechanisms for polymorphic transitions in crystals, and it is shown that serious problems arises with the traditional classification and mechanism.
Abstract
It is shown that serious problems arise with the usual classification and proposed mechanisms for polymorphic transitions in crystals. On the basis of the investigation of polymorphic transitions i...

Mechanism of Several Solid−Solid Transformations between Dihydrated and Anhydrous Copper(II) 8-Hydroxyquinolinates. Proposition for a Unified Model for the Dehydration of Molecular Crystals

TL;DR: In this article, an attempt to describe solid−solid transformations between copper(II) oxinates of known structure is presented, at a molecular level, and it is shown that the dehydration of the stable dihydrated form (β) takes place with the transmission of structural information from the parent to the daughter phase, so that a coherence is maintained.

Polymorphism of glycine, Part II

TL;DR: In this article, the results of a systematic study of the transformations of the polymorphs of glycine into each another, including the effects of temperature, of the mechanical treatment and of various gases on the transformations, are summarized.

Reversible phase transitions in a buckybowl monolayer.

TL;DR: Like penguins on ice, buckybowl molecules move closer together when cooled on a copper surface (see model of a corannulene molecule adsorbed on Cu(111) for a model of how this affects the density at room temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Polymorphic Drug Substances of the European Pharmacopoeia. Part 9. Physicochemical Properties and Crystal Structure of Acetazolamide Crystal Forms

TL;DR: The crystal structure of acetazolamide modification I was determined, and its differences compared with the already known crystalructure of the triclinic modification II are discussed, and the metastable but extremely resistant mod.
Journal ArticleDOI

Martensitic transition in molecular crystals for dynamic functional materials

TL;DR: Overall, it is believed that molecular martensitic materials are emerging as the next generation smart materials that have shown promise in advancing a wide range of domains of applications.

Statistical Mechanics: Rigorous Results

David Ruelle
TL;DR: The problem of phase transition group invariance of physical states has been studied in the literature as discussed by the authors, where the thermodynamic limit for thermodynamic functions has been investigated in the context of statistical mechanics.
