Morphologic and facies trends through the fluvial–marine transition in tide-dominated depositional systems: A schematic framework for environmental and sequence-stratigraphic interpretation

TLDR
A review of the sediment facies change through the fluvial-to-marine transition is presented in this article. But the authors focus on the sedimentological responses to these processes, focusing on the observable, longitudinal variations in the development and/or abundance of each deposit characteristic (e.g., sand grain size, paleocurrent patterns, mud drapes, and biological attributes).

Ichnology: Organism-Substrate Interactions in Space and Time

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of the ichnology of a range of depositional environments is presented using examples from the Precambrian to the recent, and the use of trace fossils in facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy is discussed.

Tidal Depositional Systems

TL;DR: Tidal depositional systems are sedimentary environments which are mainly influenced and controlled by tides and tide-related processes as mentioned in this paper, and they can be found in supratidal (above mean high water level) as well as in shallow subtidal (below mean low water level).

Tidal river dynamics: Implications for deltas

TL;DR: A review of field observations and modeling studies set in tidal river environments as diverse as the Amazon in Brazil, the Columbia, Fraser and Saint Lawrence in North America, the Yangtze and Pearl in China, and the Berau and Mahakam in Indonesia is provided in this paper.

Dynamic spatial and temporal prediction of changes in depositional processes on clastic shorelines: Toward improved subsurface uncertainty reduction and management

TL;DR: In this paper, a process-based classification scheme based on the relative importance of primary, secondary, and tertiary processes is presented, which permits a semiquantitative classification of clastic coastal depositional systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tidal depositional systems in the rock record: a review and new insights

TL;DR: Some of the principles of tidal wave theory and examples of mega-, macro-, meso-and micro-tidal coasts are reviewed, as well as sedimentary successions showing general tidal signals (tidalites) and thinly-laminated, cyclically stacked tidal strata (Tidal rhythmites) as mentioned in this paper.

Estuarine facies models; conceptual basis and stratigraphic implications

TL;DR: In this paper, two distinct but intergradational types of estuaries (wave-and tide-dominated) are recognized on the basis of the dominant marine process: wave-dominated and river-dominated.

Principles of sequence stratigraphy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method of sequence Stratigraphic Analysis with a focus on accommodating and Shoreline Shifts, and a hierarchical hierarchy of sequence and sequence boundaries.

TL;DR: In this article, a classification of selforganizations is presented, including partially mixed and well-mixed selforests, with and without salt balance, cross-channel effects, and salt balance.
