TLDR
Nanofiltration processes using one or more conventional nanofiltration membrane modules under a positive applied pressure is used to selectively change the concentration of one solute, such as sodium chloride or sodium chlorate providing monovalent ions, from another solute such as Sodium sulfate or sodium dichromate to provide multivalent ions in high salt aqueous concentrations.Abstract:
Nanofiltration processes using one or more conventional nanofiltration membrane modules under a positive applied pressure is used to selectively change the concentration of one solute, such as sodium chloride or sodium chlorate providing monovalent ions, from another solute such as sodium sulfate or sodium dichromate to provide multivalent ions in high salt aqueous concentrations. The process is particularly useful in favourably lowering the concentration of undesirable ions, particularly, of silica and dichromate ions in chloralkali and chlorate brine containing solutions and favourably raising the sodium sulphate level relative to sodium chloride in chloralkali liquor.read more

Water desalination process and apparatus
TL;DR: In this article, a process and system for purifying water is described, where an ion exchange takes place between the divalent salt and another salt, such as a monovalent salt to produce two concentrated salt streams that contain salts having greater solubility in water than the Divalent salt.

Combined membrane and sorption process for selective ion removal
TL;DR: In this paper, a combined membrane/sorption process is used to selectively remove ions from liquid streams, where an ion selective membrane is used first to remove the sulfate ions from the stream and then remove the nitrate ions by ion exchange.

Reclaiming of spent brine
TL;DR: The method of purifying spent brine from the regeneration of ion exchange resin, for example resin in water softeners, is described in this article. But it is not suitable for water softener applications.
