Navigation planning for mobile robotic devices in modular warehouses
TLDR
In this article, the authors deal with the problem of navigation and planning of an automated warehouse equipped with mobile robotic devices in a generalised layout of the warehouse, which is a modular construction type, and develop a path planning algorithm (optimises the path for the shortest distance to the goal) and the collision avoidance strategy for a multiple robot environment.Citations

Recent Advances in the Design and Analysis of Material Handling Systems
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of recent research in the design and control of material handling systems, including shop-floor transportation systems and storage systems, as well as a performance analysis of operating policies in these systems.

Principles of Artificial Intelligence
TL;DR: This classic introduction to artificial intelligence describes fundamental AI ideas that underlie applications such as natural language processing, automatic programming, robotics, machine vision, automatic theorem proving, and intelligent data retrieval.

An algorithm for planning collision-free paths among polyhedral obstacles
TL;DR: A collision avoidance algorithm for planning a safe path for a polyhedral object moving among known polyhedral objects that transforms the obstacles so that they represent the locus of forbidden positions for an arbitrary reference point on the moving object.

Solving the find-path problem by good representation of free space
TL;DR: An algorithm is presented which efficiently finds good collision-free paths for convex polygonal bodies through space littered with obstacle polygons by characterizing the volume swept by a body as it is translated and rotated as a generalized cone.

Position referencing and consistent world modeling for mobile robots
Raja Chatila,Jean-Paul Laumond +1 more
TL;DR: The approach proposed in this paper relies on the use of a multisensory system, favo ring of the data collected by the more accurate sensor in a given situation, averaging of different but consistent measurements of the same entity weighted with their associated uncertainties.

Navigation for an intelligent mobile robot
TL;DR: A learning technique is described in which the robot develops a global model and a network of places, which is useful for navigation in a finite, pre-learned domain such as a house, office, or factory.
