TLDR
In this article, it was pointed out that if one did not know the Einstein-HamiltonJacobi equation one might hope to derive it straight off from plausible first principles, without ever going through the formulation of the Einstein field equations themselves.Abstract:

Role of surface integrals in the Hamiltonian formulation of general relativity
T. Regge,Claudio Teitelboim +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that if the phase space of general relativity is defined so as to contain the trajectories representing solutions of the equations of motion then, for asymptotically flat spaces, the Hamiltonian does not vanish but its value is given rather by a nonzero surface integral.
Book ChapterDOI
From Relativity to Mutability
TL;DR: From Relativity to Gravitational Collapse, and from the Consequences of Collapse to the Principle that Nature Conserves Nothing as discussed by the authors, is a good starting point for this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Superspace of Geometrodynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review some aspects of the geometrical and topological structure of the Superspace that Wheeler urged us to take seriously in the context of canonical quantum gravity.
Journal ArticleDOI
The computer and the universe
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defend the view that existence is built at bottom upon particles, fields of force or space and time, and the task of construction of physics from such elements is compared and contrasted with the problem of constructing a computer out of “yes, no” devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Superspace of geometrodynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review some aspects of the geometrical and topological structure of the Superspace that Wheeler urged us to take seriously in the context of canonical quantum gravity.

The theory of gravitation in Hamiltonian form
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that one can make a change in the action density, not affecting the equations of motion, which causes four of the ten degrees of freedom associated with the ten g$(n) n−1−n−1 −n−2−n −1 −1−1 n−2 −2−1-n−0−1/n−3/n −2/N−1.

Canonical Quantization of Gravity
TL;DR: In Roman Catholic canon law permission of the bishop is required for the publication of any work on Sacred Scripture, dogmatic, moral or ascetical theology, or, in general, writings containing anything of peculiar significance to religion or morality as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Bubble‐Time Canonical Formalism for Geometrodynamics
TL;DR: In this article, a functional differential version of the ADM canonical formalism is proposed, where the existence of a canonical transformation separating canonical variables into internal coordinates, energy-momentum densities, and two pairs of true dynamical variables is assumed.
