Aerodynamic optimisation of a camber morphing aerofoil

TL;DR: In this paper, an optimisation strategy is developed to account for a known possible morphing system within the aerodynamic optimisation process itself, which allows for the limitations of the system to be considered from the start of the design process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measured aerodynamic characteristics of wings at low Reynolds numbers

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental program was conducted to study the low Reynolds number aerodynamics of ten UAVs having aspect ratios ranging from 2 to 5. The measurements showed that all wings exhibited sensitivity to changes in aspect ratio and Reynolds number and no hysteresis in angle of attack was observed over the range of Reynolds numbers tested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wind and water tunnel testing of a morphing aquatic micro air vehicle.

TL;DR: A unique Aquatic Micro Air Vehicle (AquaMAV), which uses a reconfigurable wing to dive into the water from flight, inspired by the plunge diving strategy of water diving birds in the family Sulidae is presented.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Demonstration of Morphing Technology through Ground and Wind Tunnel Tests

TL;DR: In this paper, a half-span wind tunnel model of the Lockheed Martin morphing aircraft concept was designed, fabricated, and tested as a structural integrity element of the aircraft in the NASA-Langley Transonic Dynamics Tunnel (TDT).
