Numerical simulation of 222Rn profiling in an experimental chamber using CFD technique.

TLDR
The present study aims to simulate the effect of forced mixing on the 222Rn concentration profile in a 22 m3 experimental chamber, and Non uniformity index (NUI) is introduced as a measure of the uniformity of the distribution in the closed domain.

A Computational Fluid Dynamics code for aerosol and decay-product studies in indoor environments

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code to simulate the behavior of aerosols and decay products of 222Rn/220Rn in indoor environments.

A CFD-based approach to optimize operating parameters of a flow-through scintillation cell for measurement of 220Rn in indoor environments

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of a flow-through Lucas scintillation cell (LSC) for long run 220Rn measurements, depends upon the exact distribution pattern of 220 Rn and its decay products in the LSC which can vary with the design of inlet path and flow rates.

Implications on dose estimation and dispersion patterns of thoron in a typical indoor environment

TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive depiction of the influence of indoor environment thoron dispersion under fixed boundary conditions within the volume domain of 90 m3 using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software is presented.

A comprehensive review of radon emanation measurements for mineral, rock, soil, mill tailing and fly ash.

TL;DR: This paper is the most comprehensive review to cover most studies, published in the past three decades at least, of radon emanation measurements, to organize a huge number of data accumulated.

Reconstruction of blood flow patterns in a human carotid bifurcation: a combined CFD and MRI study.

TL;DR: It was found that the geometry of the carotid bifurcation was highly complex, involving helical curvature and out‐of‐plane branching, which resulted in patterns of flow and wall shear stress significantly different from those found in simplified planar carotids bIfurcation models.

Influence of indoor air conditions on radon concentration in a detached house.

TL;DR: Air change rate, indoor temperature and moisture had significant effects on indoor radon concentration, and the results from analytical solution, measurements and numerical simulations showed that increasing air change rate reduces radon level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation of the concentrations and distributions of indoor radon and thoron.

TL;DR: According to the simulation results, in a naturally ventilated room, the activity distribution of 222Rn is homogeneous except for the places near air diffuser (supply and exhaust) locations, and the concentration of 220Rn exponentially decreases with the distance from the source wall which is considered independently.
