Ovulatory surge of gonadotropin in the goldfish, Carassius auratus

TLDR
The periovulatory pattern of circulating gonadotropin is described for the first time in a poikilothermic vertebrate and indicates that the goldfish provides a valuable model for the study of ovulation in teleosts.

Neuroendocrinology of reproduction in teleost fish.

TL;DR: Although precise information as to the physiological effects of KiSS1 in fish, notably on GnRH neurons and gonadotropin release, is still limited, KiSS neurons may emerge as the "gatekeeper" of puberty and reproduction in fish as in mammals.

Regulation of oocyte maturation in fish.

TL;DR: This article showed that oocyte maturation is a three-step induction process involving gonadotropin (LH), maturation-inducing hormone (MIH), and maturationpromoting factor (MPF).

Regulation of oocyte growth and maturation in fish

TL;DR: Of considerable interest is the finding that MIH, unlike most steroid hormones, acts on its receptors at the surface of oocytes, and the mechanism of MIH-induced MPF activation in fish oocytes differs from that in Xenopus and starfish.

2 Environmental Influences on Gonadal Activity in Fish

TL;DR: To illustrate that knowledge gained concerning environmental influences on fish reproduction can be put to practical use, applications in aquaculture for broodstock management and induction of spawning are discussed in the chapter.

Daily cycles in serum cortisol levels in the goldfish: effects of photoperiod, temperature, and sexual condition

TL;DR: The daily fluctuations in serum cortisol levels, measured by radioimmunoassay, in goldfish were examined and the 'maturing' females tended to have the highest levels and fluctuations of the greatest mag...

The plasma gonadotropin profile during sexual maturation in a variety of salmonid fishes

TL;DR: Sexual maturity of males and females was related to significant increases in plasma gonadotropin with the highest values observed for females near the time of ovulation.

Plasma estradiol-17β and gonadotropin during ovulation in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri R.)

TL;DR: Using RIA, trout-gonadotropin (t-GTH) and E2-17s were followed in trout plasma during the very last stages of the reproductive cycle and oocyte maturity was determined simultaneously.
