TLDR
The results suggest that hyperglycemia, a poor response of the islets after glucose stimulation (glucose tolerance test) and a low circulating plasma insulin level along with a low amylase level indicate the end point of rejection.

Long-Term Study of Vascularized Free-Draining Intraperitoneal Pancreatic Segmental Allografts in Beagle Dogs

TL;DR: Results indicate that pancreatic islets in vascularized grafts (FDPS) may survive indefinitely in the presence of a good tissue match best predicted by MLC testing, and tissue specific histocompatibility factors appear to be common enough between kidney and pancreas to allow for long-term survival of both organs transplanted from the same donor.

Transplantation of the entire pancreas with ligation of the exocrine ducts : an experimental study in dogs

J. de Gruyl
TL;DR: The effects of transplantation of the pancreas with ligated ducts was performed in dogs, and the effect of tissue typing for SO determinants of the DL-A complex on allograft survival was included in the investigation.

A simple immunoassay for insulin: application to human and dog plasma.

TL;DR: A rapid and convenient radio immunoassay for insulin is presented, using iodine131-labeled insulin of intermediate specific activity (20–30 mc/mg) and involves precipitation of insulin-antibody complex by a second antibody against gamma globulin.

Late effect of pancreatic duct ligation on beta cell function

TL;DR: The use of a pancreas with free drainage of the pancreatic secretion as an endocrine transplant for the treatment of diabetes mellitus is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI

Total pancreatic allografts in pancreatectomized dogs.

TL;DR: The present work was initiated to assess endocrine function of the total pancreatic allograft and the natural history of such a graft in a canine recipient unmodified except by prior pancreatectomy.
