TLDR
In this article, the authors evaluated the performance of the hotel industry in the Sultanate of Oman through a two-stage data envelopment analysis (DEA) procedure, in which DEA-bootstrap is used to estimate point and interval efficiency ratios of the hotels, and a truncated regression model based on the double bootstrapping procedure of Simar & Wilson (2007) is implemented to identify potential sources of hotels' operational inefficiency.

Do environmentally sustainable practices make hotels more efficient? A study of major hotels in Sri Lanka

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used data envelopment analysis (DEA) double bootstrap approach to assess the technical efficiency and its determinants of a sample of medium and large scale hotels in Sri Lanka for the period 2010-2014.

Ranking world tourist destinations with a composite indicator of competitiveness: To weigh or not to weigh?

TL;DR: In this paper, a weighted composite indicator of tourism competitiveness for 136 world tourist destinations is presented, and the role played by several variables in tourism competitiveness is assessed using truncated regression and bootstrapping.

The swine flu and its impacts on tourism in Brunei

TL;DR: In this paper, the impacts of the swine flu on tourism in Brunei were disentangled using the auto regressive integrated moving average and intervention time series analysis methods, and it was shown that the number of tourists have been reduced significantly due to both the Swine flu and the global financial crisis.

Evaluation on development efficiency of low-carbon tourism economy: A case study of Hubei Province, China

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors constructed an evaluation framework of the direct and indirect CO2 emissions from tourism industry, and included the CO2 emission factor in the efficiency evaluation framework based on SBM-Undesirable model.

Measuring Tourism Efficiency of European Countries by Using Data Envelopment Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the relative efficiency of 29 European countries with the data of the year 2013 using input-oriented and constant returns to scale Data Envelopment Analysis and to offer improvement suggestions for the countries found inefficient based on their measured relative efficiency scores.

Measuring the efficiency of decision making units

TL;DR: A nonlinear (nonconvex) programming model provides a new definition of efficiency for use in evaluating activities of not-for-profit entities participating in public programs and methods for objectively determining weights by reference to the observational data for the multiple outputs and multiple inputs that characterize such programs.

Some Models for Estimating Technical and Scale Inefficiencies in Data Envelopment Analysis

TL;DR: The CCR ratio form introduced by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes, as part of their Data Envelopment Analysis approach, comprehends both technical and scale inefficiencies via the optimal value of the ratio form, as obtained directly from the data without requiring a priori specification of weights and/or explicit delineation of assumed functional forms of relations between inputs and outputs as mentioned in this paper.

Data Envelopment Analysis: A Comprehensive Text with Models, Applications, References and DEA-Solver Software

TL;DR: In this article, the basic CCR model and DEA models with restricted multipliers are discussed. But they do not consider the effect of non-discretionary and categorical variables.
