Polymer modified mortars

C. Perényi
- Vol. 1, Iss: 1, pp 13-21
TLDR
Aqueous polymer dispersions have been used to modify concrete and mortar properties as mentioned in this paper, and some research work has been made to find the optimum type and proportion of polymer dispersion admixture.
Abstract
Aqueous polymer dispersions admixed to cement concretes or mortars affect their properties. Some research work has been made to find the optimum type and proportion of polymer dispersion admixture, and to see how concrete and mortar properties are thereby modified.

Fibre reinforcement of cement and concrete

TL;DR: The RILEM International Symposium on Fibre Cement Composites as mentioned in this paper was held in London from 17-17 September, 1975, with an emphasis on the development and practical use of fiber-reinforced cement composites.

The influence of moisture on the deformability of cement–polymer adhesive mortar

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of moisture content on the flexibility of six adhesive mortars is investigated, based on standard EN 12002, and the results show that moisture content above 6% is sufficient to reduce 50% of the mortar deformability, but that the drying process allows it to recover to a value similar to that prior to saturation.

Experimental investigations on polymer-modified concrete subjected to elevated temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of elevated temperature and duration of exposures on polymer-modified concrete (PMC) was investigated and it was found that PMC and conventional concrete can be exposed to 400 °C for 3 h exposure without any adverse effect on strength properties.

Review and discussion of polymer action on alkali–silica reaction

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the factors known to influence the deleterious alkali-silica reaction in concrete with the properties that polymers tend to modify in cementitious materials.

The Bond Strength Behavior of Polymer-modified Mortars During a Wetting and Drying Process

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of water saturation on polymer modified mortar is well documented and the influence that progressive water intake on bond strength by applying pull out tests on several different mortars was investigated.

Polyvinyl Acetate and Portland Cement Mortars

TL;DR: In this article, the use of polyvinyl acetate and its use in concrete floor surfacing materials is discussed. But, it is not suitable for continuous exposure to water and it shows cracks when applied in thicknesses over 1/2 in.
