TLDR
In this paper, a mathematical model is described that is capable of predicting changes in the plan shape of a beach following the construction of sea defences or an alteration in the wave climate.Abstract:
A mathematical model is described that is capable of predicting changes in the plan shape of a beach following the construction of sea defences or an alteration in the wave climate. The rate of change is calculated. The technique is illustrated by comparing model predictions with results from experiments carried out in a wave basin. The importance of the method in estimating coastal changes due to offshore dredging is mentioned, and the future development of the mathematical approach is outlined.read more

Genesis-A Generalized Shoreline Change Numerical Model
TL;DR: The GENESIS model as discussed by the authors is based on the one line theory, for which it is assumed that the beach profile remains unchanged, thereby allowing beach change to be described uniquely in terms of the shoreline position.

Mathematical modelling of beaches backed by seawalls
H. Ozasa,A.H. Brampton +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple mathematical model of the changes in plan shape of a beach backed by a sea wall is described, which includes a new equation for predicting the alongshore transport of sediment which includes the effect of wave heights which vary along the beach.

Static bay beach concept for scientists and engineers: A review
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the progress made by geographers and geologists since the 1940s, together with the involvement of coastal engineers working on shore protection and management from the 1960s.

The effect of wave refraction over dredged holes
J.M. Motyka,D.H. Willis +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model is used of an idealised sand beach, typical of those on the English Channel and North Sea coasts of Great Britain, to study the effects of wave refraction over offshore dredged holes.

Numerical modeling of crenulate bay shapes
TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical model is developed to compute the shoreline planform in a crenulate bay beach, which combines polar and Cartesian coordinates and can be used effectively to compute a hooked zone shoreline in the lee of upcoast headland.
