Preparation of dense cordierite ceramics from magnesium compounds and kaolinite without additives

TLDR
In this article, Magnesium hydroxide was precipitated from aqueous solution in the form of ultrafine hexagonal tabular particles of about 0.1 μm, and heating this mixture with submicron particles of tabular kaolinite in a molar ratio of MgO·Al 2 O 3 ·2SiO 2 resulted in the formation of an amorphous state at about 900°C after thermal decomposition.
