Process for spray-drying acrylic polymer solutions

TLDR
In this article, the authors describe the use of free-flowing, free-flowing POWDers, having little or no ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE reaction and being completely free from the Internet.
Abstract
DRY, FREE-FLOWING POWDERS HAVING LITTLE OR NO ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE REACTION AND SUBSTANTIALLY FREE FROM WEBBEING ARE OBTAINED BY A PROESS WHICH COMPRISES THE STEPS OF: (1) PREPARING AN ACETONE SOLUTION OF AN ACRYLIC POLYMER, WHICH SOLUTION HAS A VISCOSITY OF LESS THAN ABOUT 13 SECONDS ($4 FORD CUP) AND THE RATIO OF ACETONE TO OTHER ORGANIC SOLVENTS IS AT LAST 3, (2) ADDING TO THE PRODUCT OF STEP (1) FROM 3 TO ABOUT 10 PERCENT ATER, BASED ON THE VOLUME OF ACETONE EMPLOYED, AND (3) SPRAY-DRYING THE PRODUCT OF STEP (2). THE POWDERS THUS OBTAINED ARE USEFUL AS COATING POWDER COMPOSITIONS WHICH CAN BE APPLIED BY EITHER ELECRROSTATIC SPRAYING OR FLUIDIZED BEADS, WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS.

Continuous processing of powder coating compositions

TL;DR: In this paper, a stream of a powder coating precursor including at least one resin and at least 1 additional powder coating ingredient is contacted with a process fluid effective to reduce the viscosity of the precursor to allow processing at a lower temperature.

Smooth thin film powder coating

TL;DR: In this article, a very smooth continuous film of a cured thermosettable coating powder is achieved even when the film thickness is less than 1 mil, e.g., from about 0.2 and greater.

Multi-component coating composition comprising an anhydride containing polymer, a glycidyl component and an acid functional component

TL;DR: In this paper, a coating composition useful for a finish for automobiles and trucks in which the film forming binder contains reactive binder components of about (a) 25-90% by weight, based on the weight of the binder, of an acrylic polymer having at least two reactive anhydride groups composed of polymerized monomers of an ethylenically unsaturated anhydride and polymerised monomers from the group consisting of alkyl methacrylate, alkyyl acrylate and any mixtures thereof.

Protective coating compositions

TL;DR: ProtProtective coating composition which comprises dispersed fine particles of one or more of compounds selected from a metal salt of a higher fatty acid, having a melting point of 40°-90° C, in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble film base and a surface active agent having an HLB value of about 17 to 86 or silicon oil as mentioned in this paper.
