In this article, the basic properties of the set Σ of parallel-surfaces coordinate (p.s.c.) system were studied for the most appropriate formulation of the differential form of the balance equations in fluid dynamic problems.
Abstract
The paper is devoted to the study of the basic properties of the setΣ of parallel-surfaces coordinate (p.s.c.) system previously introduced by the author for the most appropriate formulation of the differential form of the balance equations in fluid dynamic problems, where a «direction field» plays a fundamental role. This field is usually defined by the unit normal to a given surface S either known or unknown a-priori.

Double-diffusive boundary layers along vertical free surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, double-diffusive (or thermosolutal) combined free convection is studied in the context of boundary layers that form along a vertical liquid-gas interface, when the appropriately defined non-dimensional characteristic transport numbers are large enough.

A Phenomenological Approach to Fluid-Phase Interfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, an interface is modelled as a shell-like Eulerean region composed in principle of different material points at different instants, and a more detailed description can be given in which higher order moments of the true fields appear.

On the multicomponent surface phase balance equations

TL;DR: In this paper, the system of field equations is formulated at the phenomenologically modelled n-component surface phase (e.g. interface, solidification front, shock wave, membrane etc.).

Thermodynamics and dynamics of surface phases

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of field-equations for an interface between two immiscible, uncharged, unpolarized, non-elastic and non micro-polar fluids modelled as a geometrical surface S in arbitrary motion and with thermodynamic and dynamic properties is discussed.

Thermodynamics and dynamics of pure interfaces

L.G. Napolitano
- 01 Sep 1978 -
TL;DR: In this article, the basic set of equations needed to completely describe the thermodynamics and dynamics of pure interfaces is derived, on a coherent postulatory basis, and a discussion of the interface balance equations considered as boundary conditions for the field equations pertaining to the adjoining bulk phases is given and the inadequacies of previous ad hoc formulations pointed out.
