TLDR
This paper analyzes a queuing model consisting of a system of queues that are attended periodically in a given order by a single server and shows how the moments of these distributions can be calculated.
Abstract
This paper analyzes a queuing model consisting of a system of queues that are attended periodically in a given order by a single server. The server empties each queue before proceeding to the next queue in sequence. A changeover time is required whenever the server switches from one queue to another. For a stationary process expressions are obtained for the Laplace-Stieltjes transforms of the waiting-time and intervisit-time distributions at each queue. It is also shown how the moments of these distributions can be calculated.

Queueing systems with vacations—a survey

B. Doshi
- 01 Jan 1986 -
TL;DR: This survey gives an overview of some general decomposition results and the methodology used to obtain these results for two vacation models and attempts to provide a methodological overview to illustrate how the seemingly diverse mix of problems is closely related in structure and can be understood in a common framework.

Stochastic Decompositions in the M/G/1 Queue with Generalized Vacations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a class of M/G/1 queueing models with a server who is unavailable for occasional intervals of time and showed that the stationary number of customers present in the system at a random point in time is distributed as the sum of two or more independent random variables.

Queuing analysis of polling models

TL;DR: An overview of the state of the art of polling model analysis is presented, in particular, single- buffer systems and infinite-buffer systems with exhaustive, gated, and limited service disciplines are treated.

Multiqueue systems with nonexhaustive cyclic service

TL;DR: An approximate analysis of the multiqueue system M[x]/G/1 with batch Poisson input, general service times, general overhead (switchover) times, and a single server operating under a cyclic strategy with nonexhaustive service of queues is provided.
