Managing north american waterfowl in the face of uncertainty

TL;DR: Informed management of waterfowl requires the ability to implement management actions, periodic information about population and goal-related variables, and knowl edge of effects of management actions on population andgoal-related vari ables.

Winter philopatry in migratory waterfowl

TL;DR: The authors' analyses indicate that geese, swans, and sea ducks show high levels of winter philopatry, with homing rates varying between 49 and 98% to small study areas, and that both genetic and ecological mechanisms may play a role in the evolution of philipatry to the wintering ground.

The Importance of Understanding Migratory Connectivity and Seasonal Interactions

TL;DR: It is clear that a better understanding of migratory connectivity is needed before the authors can understand the forces that have shaped and continue to shape the lives ofigratory birds.

Spring migration of Northern Pintails from California's Central Valley wintering area tracked with satellite telemetry: routes, timing, and destinations

TL;DR: The authors used satellite transmitters to track the 2000–2003 spring migrations of adult female Northern Pintails from California's Central Valley, USA, and found that PTT-tagged Pintail departed during late February to mid-March, and 77%–87% stopped first in the region of south-central Oregon, extreme northwestern Nevada, and northeastern California (SONEC).

Nonparametric statistics for the behavioral sciences

Sidney Siegel
TL;DR: This is the revision of the classic text in the field, adding two new chapters and thoroughly updating all others as discussed by the authors, and the original structure is retained, and the book continues to serve as a combined text/reference.

Applied Regression Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the Straight Line Case is used to fit a straight line by least squares, and the Durbin-Watson Test is used for checking the straight line fit.

Feeding ecology of pintail hens during reproduction

Gary L. Krapu
- 01 Jan 1974 -
TL;DR: The diet of the female Pintails prior to, during, and after laying is described and the impact of certain environmental and physiological changes on Pintail breeding is discussed.
