Single panel color projection video display improved scanning
TLDR
A color projection video system utilizing only a single light valve is described in this paper, where a white light source is separated into red, green and blue bands, and the image is projected by a projection lens onto a viewing surface, such as a screen.Abstract:
A color projection video system utilizing only a single light valve. A white light source is separated into red, green and blue bands. Scanning optics in the form of three prisms coaxially mounted for rotation cause the RGB bands to be sequentially scanned across a light valve, such as a transmission LCD panel. Prior to each color passing over a given row of panels on the light valve, that row will be addressed, by the display electronics with the appropriate color content of that portion of the image which is being displayed. The image is projected by a projection lens onto a viewing surface, such as a screen. The sequence of light bands occurs so quickly as to give the viewer an appearance of simultaneous full color.read more

Optical apparatus for controlling the direction of a beam of optical radiation
TL;DR: In this article, the direction of a beam of optical radiation from a laser is controlled by two prisms of small apex angle independently rotatable about a common axis, and a control circuit is responsive to the actual angular positions of the prisms and to inputs indicating the desired beam position.

Electro-optical measuring system using precision light translator
TL;DR: An electro-optical measuring system where a scanning laser or light beam is precisely translated in a direction parallel to itself at a constant rate to define a time-varying sensing field whose energy is picked up by a photoelectric detector that yields an output signal is described in this article.

Method and apparatus for measuring a dimension of an object
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method of measuring a linear dimension of an object which includes generating a plurality of parallel, spaced-apart sight lines of the object dimension. But the accuracy of measurement is practically independent of the distance between the centers of sight line rotation and the object.

Scanning TV camera
TL;DR: In this paper, a TV camera is adapted to scan a field that may extend almost 360° around the camera, except for the angular area obscured by the camera body, by means of a double dove prism mounted for rotation in front of the camera lens on an axis that is normal to the optical axis of the lens.
