TLDR
In this paper, the effect of the stress required to close an initially open crack, and the unloading process in detail, is examined. But the model does not seem to have previously been developed in sufficient detail to be used for quantitative predictions.About:

Damage constitutive model based on energy dissipation for intact rock subjected to cyclic loading
TL;DR: In this article, a new damage constitutive model based on energy dissipation was developed to describe the behaviour of rocks under cyclic loading in underground engineering such as coal mining and tunnel excavating applications.

Cyclic and Fatigue Behaviour of Rock Materials: Review, Interpretation and Research Perspectives
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a comprehensive state-of-the-art overview of the literature on fatigue and cyclic loading of natural rock materials, and provide an overview of different experimental set-ups applied to cyclic/fatigue investigation of rock materials.

Experimental and numerical studies on the mechanical behaviour of Australian Strathbogie granite at high temperatures: An application to geothermal energy
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of temperature on the mechanical behavior of Strathbogie granite (fine-grained) was studied under unconfined stress conditions, and the results showed that the increasing temperature reduces the stress thresholds for crack initiation and crack damage and extends the duration of stable crack propagation.

Temperature-dependent mechanical behaviour of Australian Strathbogie granite with different cooling treatments
W.G.P. Kumari,Pathegama Gamage Ranjith,Mandadige Samintha Anne Perera,Mandadige Samintha Anne Perera,Bernard Chen,Ilmutdin M. Abdulagatov +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of increasing temperature (from room temperature to 800 °C) followed by two cooling methods (both rapid and slow) on the mechanical behavior of Australian Strathbogie granite under uniaxial conditions was investigated.

Conversion of strain energy in Triaxial Unloading Tests on Marble
Da Huang,Da Huang,Yanrong Li +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a triaxial unloading test was conducted on twenty-seven marble specimens with initial confining pressures of 20, 30 and 40 MPa and unloading rates of 0.1, 1.0 and 10 MPa/s.

The effect of cracks on the compressibility of rock
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that porosity can be determined quite precisely from compressibility measurements, in particular for material in which all porosity occurs as narrow cracks, and that a crack increases compressibility nearly as much as a spherical pore of the same diameter as the length of the crack.

The Distribution of Stress in the Neighbourhood of a Crack in an Elastic Solid
TL;DR: In this paper, the distribution of stress produced in the interior of an elastic solid by the opening of an internal crack under the action of pressure applied to its surface is considered, and the conditions for rupture are deduced.
