TLDR
With an array of acoustic Doppler sounders, it is possible to retrieve a Lagrangian description of the air motions in the boundary layer as mentioned in this paper, with adequate signal-to-noise and data processing, vertical profiles of the vertical acceleration can be obtained.

Simultaneous operation of a sodar system in monostatic and bistatic modes: Preliminary results

TL;DR: A three-axis Doppler system has been set up in a configuration that allows for simultaneous monostatic and bistatic modes of operation, and a considerable increase in the information retrieved appears to be possible.

Measurements of vertical kinematic eddy sensible heat flux by means of a doppler sodar and a cryogenic radiometer

TL;DR: In this article, a triaxial Doppler sodar, a zenith-pointing cryogenic radiometer with a bandpass centred around 850 μm wavelength, and additional meteorological equipment for near-ground reference were used to investigate radiative and dynamical energy exchanges in the planetary boundary layer.

Advances in atmospheric acoustics

TL;DR: A detailed review of developments in atmospheric acoustics of the last decade is given in this paper, which includes new ways to use refractive effects, studies of phase and amplitude fluctuations during propagation of sound along a path, nonlinear effects near high-powered acoustic antennas, problems related to noise, insights into large-scale atmospheric processes gained from infrasound, applications dependent on the Doppler frequency shift, and hybrid devices using both acoustic and electromagnetic waves.

Accuracy of Wind Velocity Determinations with Doppler Sodars

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-step procedure is shown, whereby the spectrum of the echo is first localized and then the actual value of its center frequency is determined, and large improvements in accuracy and precision are obtained.

Characters of the air flow inferred from detailed spectral analysis of acoustic sounder echoes

TL;DR: In this article, spectral analysis of sodar echoes is used to yield information on the structure and vorticity of the wind field within the scattering volume, applied to a case of unusually intense turbulence and wind shear recorded at the Capanna Margherita, Monte Rosa, Italy (4559 m.a.s.).
