Polynomial chaos representation of spatio-temporal random fields from experimental measurements
TL;DR: Two numerical techniques are proposed to construct a polynomial chaos (PC) representation of an arbitrary second-order random vector, applied to model an experimental spatio-temporal data set, exhibiting strong non-stationary and non-Gaussian features.

The detection and illustration of regular sedimentary cycles using Walsh power spectra and filtering, with examples from the Lias of Switzerland
TL;DR: In this article, the application of Walsh power-spectral analysis to stratigraphic sections is outlined and band-pass filtering using the Walsh transform introduced, and it is shown that variations in sedimentation rate, hiatuses, bioturbation and variations in compaction have the effect of damping or destroying spectral peaks.

TL;DR: This approach has revealed novel N‐transport phenomena, including rapid, preferential N‐resource allocation to C‐rich sinks, induction of simultaneous bi‐directional transport, abrupt switching between different pre‐existing transport routes, and a strong pulsatile component to transport in some species.

Stationary and non-stationary stochastic response of linear fractional viscoelastic systems
TL;DR: In this paper, a method is presented to compute the stochastic response of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structural systems with fractional derivative damping, subjected to stationary and non-stationary inputs.

Diffusion-Induced Instability and Pattern Formation in Infinite Horizon Recursive Optimal Control
TL;DR: In this article, the authors develop local stability analysis for deterministic optimal control theory for recursive infinite horizon intertemporal optimization problems where there is a continuum of spatial sites and the state variable can diffuse over these sites.
