TLDR
In this article, the spectral dependence of the polarization dispersion of radiation propagating along a single-mode fiber waveguide and the group birefringence proportional to this dispersion was investigated.
Abstract
It is shown that a spectral polarization method can be used to determine directly the spectral dependence of the polarization dispersion of radiation propagating along a single-mode fiber waveguide, and of the "group" birefringence proportional to this dispersion. The interpretation of the results is confirmed experimentally by a study of a model sample of a birefringent crystal and of a single-mode fiber waveguide using other methods. It is also shown that this method can be used to determine highly accurately the cutoff wavelength of a single-mode fiber waveguide.

Frequency-domain interferometer for measurement of the polarization mode dispersion in single-mode optical fibers

TL;DR: A new technique based on frequency-domain interferometry has been used to measure the polarization mode dispersion of a birefringent optical fiber through spectral interference of two, temporally delayed, broadband ultrashort pulses in the frequency domain.

Modified channeled spectrum for fast measurement of thin films

TL;DR: A simple and effective technique for the simultaneous measurement of the refractive index and the thickness of thin films is proposed, based on the spectral dependence of the visibility of interference fringes that result from thin-film interference when the film is illuminated with a white light.

Spectral-domain interferometry forsimultaneous measuring therefractive indexandthickness

TL;DR: In this article, a method for real-time and simultaneous measuring the refractive index and thickness of thin films is proposed based on spectral dependence of phase-shifting on reflection at one of film's surface.

Asymptotic formulas for calculating the decay length of linearly polarized groups in optical fibers with step-index profile

TL;DR: In this paper, asymptotic expressions for the eigenvalue difference of the waveguide modes of an optical fiber with step-index profile were obtained. And the results of experimental studies of the integral degree of linear polarization of the output radiation were shown for different input angles.
