Journal ArticleDOI

Economic valuation of the vulnerability of world agriculture confronted with pollinator decline

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the economic consequences of pollinator decline by measuring the contribution of insect pollination to the world agricultural output economic value, and the vulnerability of world agriculture in the face of the decline of pollinators.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term patterns of European PV output using 30 years of validated hourly reanalysis and satellite data

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate how the MERRA and MERRA-2 global meteorological reanalyses as well as the Meteosat-based CM-SAF SARAH satellite dataset can be used to produce hourly PV simulations across Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI

Drying of eggplant and selection of a suitable thin layer drying model

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of drying air temperature and velocity on the model constants and coefficients were evaluated by a multiple regression technique, and the results showed that, increasing the drying air temperatures and velocities causes shorter drying times.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and quantification of phenolic compounds from pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) peel, mesocarp, aril and differently produced juices by HPLC-DAD-ESI/MS(n).

TL;DR: Pomegranate extracts and juices were characterised by HPLC-DAD-ESI/MS(n) using collision-induced dissociation experiments in this article, where the ellagitannins were found to be the predominant phenolics in all samples investigated, among them punicalagin ranging from 11 to 20g per kilogram dry matter of mesocarp and peel as well as 4-565mg/L in the juices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individual determinants of fish consumption: application of the theory of planned behaviour.

TL;DR: Investigation of individual determinants of fish consumption behaviour based on cross-sectional data collected in Belgium shows that determinants as hypothesised by the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and personal characteristics influence fish consumption intention and frequency.

Increasing negative charge and nutrient contents of a highly weathered soil using basalt and rice husk to promote cocoa growth under field conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, rice husk compost (RHC) was used to increase negative charge and nutrient content, and suppress Al and Mn toxicities of an Oxisol using finely ground basalt and rice hulls compost to promote cocoa growth under field conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Policies for reducing agricultural sector vulnerability to climate change in Mali

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated several policy changes that may reduce vulnerability, including climate-specific and other policies, including migration of cropping patterns, development of high-temperature-resistant cultivars, reduction in soil productivity loss, cropland expansion, adoption of improved cultivars and changes in trade patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sun drying of seedless and seeded grapes.

TL;DR: The results showed that Midilli et al. model was found to satisfactorily describe the sun drying curves of seedless and seeded grapes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hazard Function and Secular Trends in the Risk of Recurrent Acute Myocardial Infarction 30 Years of Follow-Up of More Than 775 000 Incidents

TL;DR: The risk of a recurrent AMI event was highly dependent on time from the previous event, a novel finding which may affect risk scoring.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of elevated temperatures on growth and yield of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

TL;DR: It is concluded that for heat tolerance in chickpea, breeding efforts needs to be focused on improving the reproductive efficiency and significant interaction of cultivars with temperature was observed for most of the traits studied.
