Experimental practices in economics: A methodological challenge for psychologists?-Open Peer Commentary-Different perspective of human behavior entail different experimental practices

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider four features of experimentation in economics, namely, script enactment, repeated trials, performance-based monetary payments, and the proscription against deception, and compare them to experimental practices in psychology, primarily in the area of behavioral decision making.
Dissertation

A critical analysis of the role of statistical significance testing in education research, with special attention to mathematics education

Yui-kin Ng
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of statistical significance testing (SST) in education has been discussed and a thorough discussion of common misconceptions associated with SST and the major arguments for and against SST is presented.
DissertationDOI

Supplier integration for new product developments: antecedents for supplier integration in modular product designs

Justus Eggers
TL;DR: In this paper, a qualitative analysis detects supplier characteristics for module developments by looking at three cases from different four wheel vehicle industries, and the identified supplier characteristics are tested empirically in regards to joint developments between buyers-suppliers (grey-box) and self-conducted supplier developments (black-box).

Reply to comments on « The modern hypothesis testing hybrid : R.A. Fisher's fading influence »

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the nature du "test de signification d'une hypothese nulle" (NHST) presente peu de ressemblance avec le modele propose par Fisher il y a quelque quatre-vingts years.

Prevalence of substance use among rural high school students in Limpopo Province, South Africa

TL;DR: Developing alcohol and drug programme for high school students that are more gender specific may improve the effectiveness of intervention efforts at high schools.
Journal ArticleDOI

How an epileptic EEG segment, used as reference, can influence a cross-correlation classifier?

TL;DR: This work aims to verify whether the choice of an epileptic EEG segment as reference can affect the performance of classifiers built from data, and proposes a CC with artificial reference (CCAR) method in order to reduce possible consequences of the random selection of a signal as reference.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Bayesian method of combining judgmental and model-based density forecasts

TL;DR: The authors introduced a formal method of combining expert and model density forecasts when the sample of past forecasts is unavailable, relying on probability rules only, and applied it to forecasting US inflation by mixing density forecasts from an autoregressive model and the Survey of Professional Forecasters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationships between sea surface temperature anomalies in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and South Texas precipitation and streamflow variability

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantified statistically the temporal variability in precipitation and streamflow at a regional scale in the semi-arid area of South Texas associated with three climate indices: El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Pacific Decadal Oscillations (PDO), and Atlantic Multidecadal Off-Season (AMO), showing that ENSO and PDO strongly modulate rainfall during the cold season and, to various extents, streamflow during the warm season.

Essays on Bayesian Analysis of Time Varying Economic Patterns

Pinar Ceyhan
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantify the increasing popularity of Bayesian econometrics by performing a data analysis in the sense of measuring both publication and citation records in major journals, and find that a topic like unobserved components models and time varying patterns has shown tremendous progress.
