Strength of adhesively bonded scarf joints between glass fibre-reinforced plastics and metals

TLDR
In this paper, the strength of adhesively bonded scarf joints under tensile load was investigated both analytically and experimentally, and the effect of scarf length and elastic imbalance on the deformation and strength of the joints were examined.

Design and testing of joints for composite sandwich/steel hybrid ship hulls

TL;DR: In this paper, two concepts of joints, a bonded-bolted joint and a co-infused perforated joint, were evaluated and two kinds of reference beams were manufactured and also tested: composite sandwich beams, and steel reference beams.

Prediction of crack initiation and propagation of adhesive lap joints using an energy failure criterion

TL;DR: In this paper, a more suitable failure criterion has been proposed, based on a specific strain energy criterion, which is not so sensitive to the size of the integration zone since it is ‘averaged over the volume of the zone.

An improved 2D model for bonded composite joints

TL;DR: In this article, a 2D plane stress model for adhesively-bonded composite repair joints is proposed, which is based on the finite element method (FEM) for the design and analysis of composite joints.

Analysis of Bonded Joints in Vehicular Structures

TL;DR: In this article, a linear elastic finite-element analysis is used to evaluate the behavior of an adhesive joint bonding a boron/epoxy composite to a metallic substrate, where the adhesive layer is treated as a separate elastic medium of finite thickness in order to remove the stress singularity that exists when dissimilar materials are joined.

Effects of material constitutions on the strength of fiber reinforced plastic gears

TL;DR: In this paper, a method to reinforce gear teeth with glass or carbon roving cloths along the tooth profile is proposed to improve the bending strength of plastic gears, and a stress analysis using the finite element method is performed for reinforced gears subjected to bending loads.
