Characterization of Functionalized Side-Chain Liquid Crystal Methacrylates Containing Nonmesogenic Units by Dielectric Spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, the dielectric response of a series of side-chain liquid crystal copolymers, SCLCPs, the poly[6-(4′-methoxyazobenzene-4′)-oxy)hexyl methacrylate]-co-poly[methyl methACrylate]s, MeOAzB/MMA copolymer, is presented in the frequency range f = 10−2 to 107 Hz and over the temperature interval T = −150 to 120 °C.

Liquid Crystalline Copolymers Containing Sulfonic and Light-Responsive Groups: From Molecular Design to Conductivity.

TL;DR: The light-responsiveness of the polymers, via reversible trans-to-cis photoisomerization of azobenzene groups, and the local activation of conductivity at relatively low temperatures, opens the possibility to prepare polymer electrolytes for energy conversion and storage, whose conductivity could be controlled and optimised by external stimuli, including light irradiation.

The role of conductivity and molecular mobility on the photoanisotropic response of a new azo-polymer containing sulfonic groups

TL;DR: In this article, the UMRG grant RP038B-17AFR was used to support the University Malaya under the Global Challenge Research Fund Internal Pump Priming Fund Round 2.

Viscous Liquids and the Glass Transition. III. Secondary Relaxations in Aliphatic Alcohols and Other Nonrigid Molecules

TL;DR: In this article, the dielectric permittivity and the Dielectric loss factor of 5 methyl-3, 4 methylmethyl-3 and 3 methylpentane were measured from 50 to 105 Hz and from −196 to about 20°C above their respective glass transition temperatures.

Relation between the structure of polymers and their dynamic mechanical and electrical properties. Part I. Some alpha-substituted acrylic ester polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive study of the dynamic mechanical and dielectric properties of acrylic polymers has been made; these two properties were found to be intrinsically correlated; results are given in graphic form.

Secondary Loss Peaks in Glassy Amorphous Polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, a short description of the determination of secondary mechanical loss peaks in glassy amorphous polymers is given, and the molecular motions causing secondary loss peaks are classified.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used seven Lorenz type dispersion functions associated with a single absorption peak for the ester group of s-poly(methyl methacrylate) while simple esters (i.e. methyl acetate) exhibit only one.
